…was, sadly, not the greatest Batman film that I want it to be. Which, of course, also essentially means that it’s not as fresh and meaty as the Empire Strikes Back of superhero movies: The Dark Knight.
But hey — I still liked it, a lot actually, despite the semi-sluggish pacing and the lack of a true classic villain. Bane’s fucking cool, sure, but he’s not the Joker, period. Though that twist at the end was pretty brilliant, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character was one of the best additions of the movie if you ask me… and I’m not just saying that because I’m a huge fan of JGL’s work. And yeah, that thingy with him as the film ends was “cute”.
Oh, and yes: we finally have a definitive superhero trilogy. The film may not be that great compared to its predecessor, but at least you cannot deny the fact that all the Nolan Batman movies are, more or less, consistent unlike, say, Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and the first 3 X-Men movies. The curse has been broken, thank gods.
You know, it’s really hard to talk about this movie without going into spoilers. Seriously. So, believe it or not, I actually recorded a spoiler-filled TDKR podcast (no way!) with the man they call Timzster and you can listen to it right…. here!
Download link’s right here too, in case you wanna listen to it on the road or something.
Yeah, “Live or Let Die” or “The Wheel of Fate is Turning” or (my personal favorite) “The Time of Retribution… DECIDE THE DESTINY!” — whatever the case maybe: worlds have fucking collided! Who knows, this might be a start of something. We’ll see.
