The unveiling of (Resident Evil creator) Shinji Mikami’s latest project: a brand new survival horror called… well, I was about to say “Zwei”, but it is in fact actually just a codename. But whatever — Zwei it is! Mikami-san himself is also directing, which is huge and happy news for fans of the developers acclaimed hits.
What you’re looking at right now is actually the first concept art of this very promising title. Just… look at it (here’s a bigger one for you eagle-scouters). Doesn’t it somehow scream to Capcom “I”m the Resident Evil’s original daddy, bitch”.
Right, so a concept art (particularly the very first one) doesn’t really mean anything. No matter how pretty it is with those sketchy visuals and dramatic shots — it doesn’t really give you an idea on how the game itself could be anything special, even though it’s being directed by one of the finest Japanese developers out there.
But check out the quote from Mikami himself, just to give you an idea why we should be all excited a.k.a. the punch line:
“I’ve found my focus and once again I’m striving for pure survival horror. I am being very hands-on to see that the quality is there. Rest assured.“
OK, I’ll just shut up then and chill out, because the master — or the man responsible for Resident Evil 4, if I may add — has spoken indeed. Let the good times roll, bitches.
