SPOILER: it looks and plays like a Zelda title! Surprised? Please… don’t be. If you’re expecting this newly released trailer to blow your mind and will let you re-think about the Zelda franchise, then look elsewhere.
Yes you can tell I’m feeling slightly iffy about this clip because, after months of patiently waiting for an awesome Skyward Sword update, Nintendo releases a video that’s essentially reminding us that the (1) game exists and (2) it plays like good-ol Zelda. Nothing super wrong with that I suppose, but the fanboy in me expects a little more than just showcasing GUIs and colorful visuals.
Someday I would like to see a dramatic, blockbuster-ish trailer similar to the Twilight Princess ones. The “goosebumpy” editions if you will.
In other GDC news:
- Nintendo announces a new Mario game for the 3DS. Yep we saw that coming but here’s the kicker; it’ll be produced by the Super Mario Galaxy team. Expectations have been raised– confirmed!
- Yu Suzuki (Virtua Fighter, Shenmue Daytona creator): “I think Sega will let me make Shenmue 3…”. DO IT. Shenmue 3, the sequel everyone oh-so demands, needs to fucking happen. If Megaman Legends (Rockman Dash) 3 is a reality, then why not this one too y’know?
- Fumito Ueda’s The Last Guardian will exceed expectations according to numerous reports. Boom, nice! Plus I heard they’re considering a demo in the upcoming ICO/Shadow of the Colossus Collection for the PS3. Make it happen Sony… make it happen.
