Movies I’ve seen in January 2011

This may or may not be a regular “monthly column”. I just thought it would be a good idea to share my opinions of movies I’ve seen recently. Here goes nothing…

Never Let Me Go — A bit slow if you ask me, but it has a really interesting story that I’m quite fond of. Good script, great acting and some vivid shots.

The Green Hornet — Fun. Jay Chou was badass and Christoph Waltz playing a semi-contemporary version of Hans Landa was hilarious and brilliant at the same time. It may not have the same charm like its 60s counterpart, but I enjoyed it greatly nevertheless. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s signature writing was clearly present, and as a huge fan of their previous works (Superbad and Pineapple Express), that was a plus.

The Mechanic —  Meh, don’t bother wasting your time. Based from the trailer and the poster, I was expecting it to be a kick ass and gripping movie since it has Jason Statham and Ben Foster. Instead it’s sluggish and tedious.

The King’s Speech — Great movie even though the premise ain’t exactly my cup of tea. Watch it for the spectacular performance by Colin Firth. He’s gonna win the Oscars hands down.
